چکیده
1. Answer the following questions (briefly explain your answers) a) What is a "test statistic" in the context of Hypothesis testing? A test statistic is the "score" one calculates from the data. Usefull test statistics follow known, well defined distributions under the null, and possibly known distribution(s) under the alternative hypothesis. The test consists of seeing how likely it is, that the test statistic actually came from the null hypothesis distribution. b) How is the power of a test related to the sample size of a test, assuming that the test statistic is an average of independent samples, and it follows the normal distribution? The power of the test should be proportional to the square root of the sample size. This is because the two distributions (the null and the alternate) will reduce their variance at one over the square root of the sample size. c) Is the power (P) of a test independent of the type I error? No. One can trade power for type one error and vice versa. The power of the test depends on the criterion for Ho rejection, and this criterion (limit) is directly dependent on the type I error a.

Process Automation in Semiconductor Manufacturing: Issues and Solutions
While the area of process automation in semiconductor manufacturing has many issues in common with process automation and enactment in business processes, the nature of the semiconductor manufacturing process introduces a number of challenging new issues. Among these issues is the need to not only automate the process but also to continuously control and optimize it. Furthermore the semantics o...

The semiconductor industry has grown rapidly, and subsequently production planning problems have raised many important research issues. The reentrant flow-shop (RFS) scheduling problem with time windows constraint for harddisk devices (HDD) manufacturing is one such problem of the expanded semiconductor industry. The RFS scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing the makespan of jobs i...

متن کاملA Framework for Standard Modular Simulation: Application to Semiconductor Wafer Fabrication
This paper presents the application of a framework, proposed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), for standard modular simulation of semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities or fabs. The application of the proposed framework results in the identification and specification of four different elements in the context of semiconductor fabs: (1) market sector, (2) hierarchi...
متن کاملApproximation Algorithms for the Wafer to Wafer Integration Problem
Motivated by the yield optimization problem in semiconductor manufacturing, we model the wafer to wafer integration problem as a special multi-dimensional assignment problem (called WWI-m), and study it from an approximation point of view. We give approximation algorithms achieving an approximation factor of 3 2 and 4 3 for WWI-3, and we show that extensions of these algorithms to the case of a...
